Vineyards: Made from grapes coming from our own vineyards. The climate in this part of Rioja, with clear Mediterranean influence, provides excellent maturations which, combined with a low yield viticulture (5.000 kgrs/Ha. aproximately), result in Riojas with great concentration and fruit expression. Grape Varietes: Further to years of research and trials exploring the best possible way to blend the indigenous varietals from Rioja, we have found our ideal proportion, with is 80 % Tempranillo, 20% Maturana. Elaboration: The grapes arrived to the winery in perfect conditions, being destemmed prior to transport to the stainless steel fermentation vats. The fermentation of the three diferent grape varieties was made separately, adjusting the critical fermentation parameters such as temperature, pumpovers and maceration times to the specific character of each, the target being to attain an optimum balance between good extraction and round friendly tannins. Ageing: The resulting Tempranillo wine was aged for 18 months in new american oak barrels, whereas the Maturana stayed for 12 months in new French oak. Further to this ageing the final blend was made and completed its "assemblage" for another three months in french oak foudres (10.000 litres), leaving to the bottle ageing to polish and develop the aromas. This wine has not been submitted to filterings or artificial stabilizations, which might result in the appearance of natural sediments in the bottle.
